Meet our team
Lindsey, Jody and Charlotte came together to form Sideline Assembly in 2023, as an artist educator, curator and audio producer, with the mission to explore, document and share heritage through creative activity.

Lindsey Smith
Co-Director
Lindsey Smith is a Photographic Artist and Creative Facilitator. She has over 25 years experience of working in collaboration with a range of communities and organisations to design, deliver and evaluate learning and engagement initiatives.
She has extensive experience of devising and facilitating public workshops and creative projects. She particularly enjoys working with young people, an enthusiasm rooted in her role as a Youth Worker in Brighton & Hove, 2001-2003.
Her experience incorporates formal and informal learning, including teaching at Universtiy of Brighton, Continued Professional Development for cultural and educational professionals, and accredited training and mentoring programmes for young creatives.

Jody East
Co-Director
Jody has over 20 years’ experience working in museums as a curator and creative programmer. She has project managed major exhibitions, including ABBA: One Week in Brighton and Goal Power: Women’s Football 1892–2022 at Brighton Museum. Her curatorial practice centres on amplifying the voices and stories of communities whose lived experiences are often underrepresented in history.
Jody is also a guest lecturer on the Curating Heritage MA at the University of Brighton and has previously been the Museum Association’s representative for the South East. She is passionate about creating opportunities to make art, heritage and culture more inclusive, meaningful and relevant.

Charlotte Petts
Co-Director
Charlotte is a multi award winning audio producer with work spanning national and local radio, podcasts and exhibition settings.
She has studied with and collaborated alongside leading broadcasters and acclaimed storytellers to craft innovative, immersive content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Beyond production, Charlotte is an advocate for using the power of audio to inspire, educate, and connect. She is especially dedicated to community-driven projects, helping to preserve local stories and empowering people to share their own experiences in their own voices.
