My first ever game for wasps with the first team was against Richmond, but Richmond’s front row at the time was the Scottish international front row.
Gisele Mather, who was our coach at the time. She’s one of, one of the best coaches in the world known women’s rugby. She’s like, ‘don’t worry, we’re probably only going to get you on for the last 10-15, minutes’. Brilliant.
Sitting there casually, yeah, great, scared, because it’s like first team anyway, the prop who was playing went down in the first five she injured her back, and I could see on the props face when I came on, the glee in her expression, because she knew she’s going to absolutely own me for 75 minutes. I mean, yeah, it was painful. Yeah, that was a baptism of fire. And I learned a lot very, very quickly.
We used to play on a Sunday, right? So it used to be that we played on a Sunday and you go to work on a Monday. And luckily for me, working in an office like you had like, wheelie chairs, so when they on a Monday, when you couldn’t turn your neck because you’d been hit by a car twice or several times, you just have to do that. And then you’re like, alright, it was, yeah, tough.
