Like there’s such a big stigma around the idea and what you should be like as a rugby player, like the stereotype. People think it’s like such a manly sport and stuff like that and it’s very unfeminine. So I’ve had like people outright say to me to stick to horse riding because it’s very unattractive that I play rugby and stuff like that. Also, I think a lot of rugby players struggle with the fact that they grew up a little bit embarrassed that they play rugby.
I especially did, like I wouldn’t actually tell people I did until I came to college and then I was like, I’m actually making something of this so why would I be so embarrassed? So yeah that’s something I’ve had to overcome. And you’ve got to like kind of prove yourself in a way of like the boys even now there say things like if I was a girl I’d be in England so it’s a bit like you get constant kind of backlash within the boys team, so it’s a bit like you have to prove yourself that no actually we’re quite good and we can do it yeah.
